AML 90
The AML 90, the most powerful vehicle
in the Irish Army, was developed by Panhard (France) for the French Army,
with the first production vehicles completed in 1962. The AML 90 is equipped
with a 90mm cannon turret.

The AML 90 shares many componments
with the Panhard M3 (4x4) APC and total production of these vehicles,
including those made under licence in South Africa (Where it is known
as the Eland), is over 6000.
The vehicle has no NBC (Nuclear,
Biological and Chemical) system, but optional equipment includes various
night vision devices, a laser range-finder for the 90mm gun, an air conditioning
system and amphibious kit. Late production vehicles also have a more fuel
efficient Diesel Engine.
